Born to Hand-Dye, Baby!

Well, maybe not, but I sure do have fun doing it! It has become quite an addiction of mine, and I thought I'd share a few pictures of some of my yummy hand-dyed yarns.

A New Take on Fingerless Gloves

My aunt saw some fingerless gloves I had made for myself and wanted some as covers for her hand braces for the spring/summer. She asked if I could make some with larger thumb gussets. So I gave it a shot and modified some simple patterns, and they worked perfectly. It was difficult to do, as she lives 7 hours away, and we were doing all the "specs" through email and IM. I just finished a 3rd pair for her and had a coworker try them on (because her hands are larger than mine) before sending them in the mail. And as a result, I found another person I can help! A child with CP has hand braces, and they are rubbing a raw area on his wrist, so one of his therapists has asked if I can make child-sized ones for him to wear to help prevent the chafing. I'm thrilled to be able to do something, even if it is a very small thing, to help other people.
